The volume of a solid of an irregular object can be calculated by the following procedure.
- Measure the volume V1 of a certain amount of a liquid by measuring cylinder.
- Tie the solid object by a fine thread and immerse it gently into the liquid and measure volume V2 of liquid plus the solid object.
- Use the following formula to measure the volumes "V" of the solid.
Volume of solid, (V) = V2 - V1 - Measure the mass "m" of the solid object using a top-pan balance.
- Calculate the density of the solid by using the formula of density.
